Job description

We are seeking an experienced underwater filming and expedition team to support a deep-sea documentary project focused on Pacific seamount ecosystems near Hawaii. This ambitious project aims to capture never-before-seen footage of deep-ocean biodiversity, geological formations, and the unique adaptations of species living in extreme environments.The scope of work includes:
  • Operating manned submersibles and ROVs equipped with high-definition cameras to film at depths of 1,000–3,000 meters.
  • Recording cinematic-quality video footage of deep-sea corals, hydrothermal vent communities, and rare species.
  • Capturing 360-degree immersive footage for use in virtual reality and educational outreach programs.
  • Coordinating with scientific experts on-site to film live data collection and sample retrieval processes.
  • Delivering audio-visual assets in 8K quality suitable for large-screen documentary production.
This project will require up to 8 highly skilled professionals, including submersible pilots, ROV operators, deep-sea cinematographers, lighting and camera specialists, sound engineers, and expedition safety divers. Providers must demonstrate prior experience in deep-sea filming projects or scientific expeditions with footage successfully used in broadcast or cinematic productions.Deliverables must include:
  • A comprehensive raw footage library in 8K and 360-degree formats.
  • Highlight reels for promotional and educational use.
  • Photographic documentation of all significant findings.
  • Technical logs and metadata associated with footage to aid scientific interpretation.
All operations must comply with NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) and U.S. maritime regulations for research activities in U.S. waters. Providers must adhere to strict environmental guidelines to ensure that fragile deep-sea habitats are not disturbed during operations.This project is a high-profile opportunity for underwater media professionals to participate in an expedition that combines science, exploration, and storytelling. The final outputs will be used in a major documentary series, with additional material shared with global science and education networks. Selected providers will be credited as key contributors in the final production, offering significant visibility in both the scientific and media industries.
