Autonomous ROV Pipeline Survey – Singapore Strait

Job description

Navigation lanes in the Singapore Strait are among the busiest in the world. Beneath these routes lie critical subsea pipelines that fuel the region’s power plants and industries. Regulators have flagged a need for updated inspection data, as shifting sediments and anchor strikes pose risks to the pipeline’s long-term integrity. This project is not routine maintenance — it is a priority inspection mission. The expectation is for advanced autonomous ROV and AUV systems to be deployed, capable of operating continuously in strong currents and high-traffic conditions. Providers will be responsible for running a comprehensive survey campaign across 40 km of subsea pipeline. The scope of work will include:
  • Running autonomous AUV missions equipped with sonar, HD cameras, and laser scanning systems.
  • Capturing real-time georeferenced data on pipeline alignment, burial depth, and protective coatings.
  • Detecting and documenting exposure points, corrosion, or debris that may compromise pipeline safety.
  • Generating digital twin models of the surveyed pipeline section to support predictive maintenance.
  • Preparing a full suite of reports and datasets for handover to operators and regulatory bodies.
Given the scale of operations, up to 6 providers will be engaged, covering AUV piloting, subsea data processing, GIS analysis, safety oversight, and reporting. Experience working in heavy maritime traffic zones is strongly preferred.Deliverables must include:
  • A complete digital pipeline condition model.
  • Annotated HD video and sonar imagery.
  • GIS-based maps with flagged areas of concern.
  • A final compliance report aligned with Singapore Maritime Authority requirements.
This is a technically demanding project that requires precision, speed, and proven expertise. Providers who can demonstrate prior success with long-range autonomous missions will be prioritized. The insights gained here will not only safeguard critical infrastructure but also ensure uninterrupted energy supplies for the region. For selected providers, this represents both a high-value contract and a chance to set benchmarks for future inspection campaigns in one of the world’s most strategic maritime corridors.
